Cookery FAQ

On iPhone and iPad, use the browser's Share button and choose Cookery. On Mac, use the Cookery Safari extension or the system Share menu.

Finish the import by opening Cookery on the same device where you shared the recipe. This helps prevent duplicate imports when Cookery is open on more than one device.

Yes. Cookery can turn photographed cookbook pages, handwritten recipes, PDFs, and shared text files into structured recipes. Five imports are available free every month; Cookery+ removes the monthly import limit. Intelligent imports require a supported device with Apple Intelligence.

For a photographed recipe, take a clear photo first and then choose it from Cookery's import flow. You can review and edit every field before saving.

Recipe layouts vary widely. Cookery uses on-device Apple Intelligence to identify which text belongs to the title, yield, ingredients, instructions, and other recipe fields—not merely to copy the text from the page.

Cookery recognizes metric and imperial measurements and respects common differences in how those recipes are written. Automatic recipe formatting is currently supported for English-language recipes. More languages are planned.

Please send the recipe to support. Reports help improve Cookery's understanding of different recipe sites and formats.

You can also open the recipe in Cookery, choose the More button, select Report Problem, and submit the request from the app.

Free users receive five recipe imports every month. The allowance resets each month, so you can continue adding recipes without a subscription.

Cookery+ is a one-time $1.99 USD in-app purchase. It removes the monthly import limit, there is no subscription, and Cookery for Mac is included.

With Cookery+, recipes can be exported as editable Cookery recipe files for backup or sharing. They can also be converted to PDF or plain text, and to RTF on Mac.

On iPhone and iPad, import a Cookery recipe file from the Add Recipe menu or share the file to Cookery. On Mac, choose File > Import or open the recipe file directly.

Install Cookery using the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If Cookery+ is not recognized, use the restore-purchase option in Cookery and make sure each device is running the latest version. Contact support if the purchase still does not appear.

Cookery does not collect your recipes, browsing history, or usage data, and Pinwheel Development cannot view your Cookery library. Recipes are stored on your device and, when sync is enabled, in your private iCloud account.

When you explicitly share a page, the Cookery extension reads the frontmost page's title and URL so Cookery can import that recipe. The Safari extension may also use iCloud to synchronize Cookery settings. Cookery does not send your browsing activity to Pinwheel Development.

Cookery uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to keep recipes and lists current across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No separate Cookery account is required.
