Assignments 1.32 Update In Review

Posted 05-18-2009 at 07:27 PM by ben (Pinwheel Development News)
It has been a while since we have updated you with any definitive time frames related to software updates, and this is intentional. We have had some setbacks at Pinwheel, but now that we have hired a new team member we are back into the swing of things and we hope you will (soon) see that development is progressing at a reasonably fast pace. We have posted an update to Assignments to Apple, and although we will not say that it will be approved soon, because we have already been through two rejections over insignificant criteria, we will say that we doubt there will be a holdup this time as we have fixed any problem Apple could possibly find with the program.

Apple seems to have brushed our applications aside, which is fine, but it is to the detriment of our users as these updates bring huge bug fixes. I suppose they are too busy worrying about whether to approve or reject applications for bands like Nine Inch Nails, but that is neither here nor there.

Assignments 2.0

Assignments 2.0 is progressing steadily. We are set for a June/July release, and have planned some huge updates for the application. For one, we have redone the user interface, and we believe you will find that we have sacrificed nothing in the way of usability.

We are still looking for beta testers. I tried contacting a few of our beta testers over the weekend regarding this latest update and didn't receive any responses, so if you are out there and are thinking about contacting us, please do as we need beta testers! Assignments 2.0 will be in beta soon, and we will need your help testing it.

That's all for now, I will update you again soon as we plan to release another update to Assignments before the big push to 2.0.

Before we begin discussing new software, let me welcome our new member, Bill P., to the development team! Bill is a Cocoa/Obj-C programmer with many years of previous experience. He has already begun to work on the updates for Assignments and ANT, in preparation for the 3.0 iPhone software update. Bill has some great ideas for the future of both projects, so stay tuned as he updates you himself on the status of these projects. If you'd like to speak to Bill, his username is bill on our forums. His email address is bill@pinwheeldevinc.com. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

Assignments 2.0

Assignments is an application for your iPhone that makes for easy and fun school assignment tracking, and the 2.0 release is a complete overhaul of the program, from the ground up. 2.0 is a feature-rich update to Assignments, providing stability enhancements, feature-additions, and integration with the iPhone 3.0 software release. Assignments 2 will include many new features that will put it at the forefront of Assignment tracking once again, including Push Notification, a recording addition that lets you record each lecture (in addition to being able to record your professor as he/she gives the assignment, and multiple ways to enter and track Assignments (more on this feature soon!). Get started with Assignments today by downloading it on the App Store, and receive the 2.0 update for absolutely no cost when it is released.

Read more about Assignments 2.0 in the coming months, as the feature lists for both are completed. Expect both updates (Assignments and ANT 2.0) to hit the App Store around the time when 3.0 is released for your iPhone.
